Association BIOMASA as the co-organiser of the European Sustainable energy week 2010 in Slovakia, realized excursion in Pellet production unit in Kysucky Lieskovec focused on HEATING WITH PELLETS during the Energy week 2010. The excursion was designed especially for youth and it was possible for the students to participate in the excursion during the whole week from 22 March to 26 March 2010.

OPEN DOOR FOR STUDENTS IN PELLET PRODUCTION PLANT IN KYSUCKY LIESKOVEC |

The pellet production plant uses to be open for students of technical middle schools every year. Excursions begin with a presentation during which a lecture on renewable energy sources and wood pellet production is projected and presented for students. After the presentation there is a time for debate with the students and answering their questions. The pellet production plant is also shown to the students. |

The European Union Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) is initiative of the Directorate General for Energy and Transport of the European Commission in the framework of the Intelligent Energy - Europe Programme. The EUSEW is the key event for sustainable energy-related issues in Europe and the world, gathering over 10.000 participants in its last edition (February 2008). It takes place in Brussels, Belgium, and in other cities across Europe from Monday 9 February to Friday 13 February, 2009.

SUMMER PELLET CAMP 5 – 12 June 2008 |

Activity program and process:
1.Discussion on environmental protection focused on reduction of the fossil fuel consumption
The discussion were started from knowledge and experiences of schoolchildren gained from foregoing activities in last years (forest tree nursery visit, eco-educational programs about the forest and its utilization by a man, activities from environmental care field, carpenter workshop and rising waste). By controlled dialogue and brainstorming method we studied a relation between a pellet usage and fossil fuel consumption and their connection with the environmental protection. The discussion task was the explanation/accentuation of our duty to care about the environment and its position in the Christian values of nowadays man.

CONE COLLECTING SCHOOL COMPETITION IN SLOVAKIA „The Use of Biomass for Heating“ June 2008 |

BIOMASA Association from Kysucky Lieskovec has organized a competition in collecting cones with the slogan “Heating is also possible with cones” in cooperation with the Primary school and Nursery School in Zariecie. The competition was launched in June 2008. 11 classes from Záriečie with 230 schoolchildren participated. The main idea of the competition was to make children and young people aware of the issue of biomass being a renewable energy source, bringing closer the possibilities of its using and the reasons why it is necessary to use renewable resource of energy. There are very strong reasons why to attract the schoolchildren as they are the future decision makers, kids can act as educational brokers with their parents.

Training „Small biomass heating systems and their combination with solar panels“ 13 June 2007 in Oskerda |

BIOMASA Association organized on 13. June 2007 in Ranc Oskedra the training aimed on decision makers from local and regional levels – municipalities employers of regional administration, mainly environmental and building offices, universities, as well as general public interested on this field. The program was organised through presentations, description of practical problems and solutions as well as successful realisations. Practical visit of nearby pellet boiler room in school Povina and presentation of pellet stoves were offered to interested persons at the end of the day.
