The European Union Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) is initiative of the Directorate General for Energy and Transport of the European Commission in the framework of the Intelligent Energy - Europe Programme. The EUSEW is the key event for sustainable energy-related issues in Europe and the world, gathering over 10.000 participants in its last edition (February 2008). It takes place in Brussels, Belgium, and in other cities across Europe from Monday 9 February to Friday 13 February, 2009.
The EUSEW is in fact the principal event of the Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign, a large communication and networking initiative of the European Commission/DG TREN launched in 2005. It intends to play a key role in promoting the goals of the EU energy policy and brings together key public and private actors in order to spread the message of a more intelligent use and production of energy to the widest possible audience.
BIOMASA, Association of Legal Entities, Kysucky Lieskovec is a co-organiser of the European Sustainable Energy Week of 2009. BIOMASA will realize a promotional campaign and events in Slovakia, targeting the general public in Slovakia.
The main event of BIOMASA Association in the framework of the EUSEW 2009 in Slovakia will be OPEN DOOR in Pellet production unit in Kysucky Lieskovec for schoolchildren and students. The pellet production unit will be open for schoolchildren and students during the week of 9 - 13 February 2009 in time from 9:00 to 11:00. Maximum number of participant is 30 per a day.
Open door began with a presentation during which a lecture on renewable energy sources and wood pellet production is projected and presented to students. After the presentation there was a time for debate with the students and answering their questions. The pellet production plant was also shown to the schoolchildren and students so that they can better imagine how the sawdust is processing and the pellets are produced.
