The seminar – Potential of unused areas for biomass production and fast growing plant species for energy production was organized by BIOMASA, Association of Legal Entities within implementation of project DANUBENERGY. The main topics of the seminar were potential of unused areas for biomass production and utilisation of fast growing plant species for energy production.
At the beginning of the seminar the information about project Danubenergy and unused areas for biomass production were presented. Information about cultivation of fast growing plant species were presented by Mr. Andrea Barban from Italian company Alasia New Clones. (www.alasianewclones.com). Mr. Miroslav Marek from DF Družstvo informed the participants about situation in Slovak republic in the field of fast growing plant species.(www.japonsketopole.eu). Excursion in the pellet unit production was the last point of the seminar. Consumption of wood raw material has been increased many fold for the last years and demand of energy materials is higher than market possibilities. One of the reasons is the bad situation in forestry management – export of stem wood to abroad without next processing and without added value. One of the possibilities could be the cultivation of fast growing plant species combined with utilization of grassy biomass on the unused areas.
